Antique Jewellery is absolutely fascinating. Ancient secrets of past worlds, the marvels of the Victorian era, or the artistic flair from the early 1920’s. We get it. The attraction is 100% justifiable.
Vintage-inspired jewels borrowing the poise and allure of the golden ages but brand new. Suited to be worn and enjoyed.
Don’t think of these pieces as reproductions, though. When it comes to our Bespoke Experience, every design is 100% unique and your own. We may lend inspiration from past references and iconic models, but you’ll assuredly get something entirely distinctive that embodies some of your personality as well.
Need we say more? You get the best of both worlds, really. We may call them fantastic interpretations of past times. Spun with gold and impossibly bright coloured gemstones. One foot set in the past and the other pointing towards the future. So many elements from history continue to inspire jewellers to this date. And our own creative team is no exception.
From intricate engravings and the tiniest details to bold geometric designs and tangled applications. Our modern knowledge and techniques, combined with classic styles and references, often result in pure magic.
Each period holds its own enchantment. Keep on reading to unfold some influential times in jewellery making.
Art Deco
One of our favourite sources of inspiration: we often rely on geometrical shapes and straight lines, paired with bold colours, as a hint to the dashing Art Deco movement.
The roaring 1920’s were a remarkable time. Simply put, the world came back to life with the end of the Great War. With everyone wanting to squeeze in every possible ounce of enjoyment out of life, human spirits were high! New and exciting discoveries within the artistic sphere prodded the rise of the Art Deco movement. A period in time particularly relevant in Calla Lily’s design signature.
Georgian Era
Going way back, we should definitely also hint to the greatness from the Opulent and Regal Georgian era. Its Neoclassical to Gothic styles are ornamentally beautiful and sort of rare to come by today. Which makes them all that much more special.
Victorian Era
Named for Queen Victoria of England; you already know what is coming, right? The Victorian era could never be left out. Pieces from this period are as magnificent as they are diversified, reflecting the queen’s ever alternating moods.
Retro
Fast forward to less remote times and we have Retro Styles. Conjuring up all the glam and glitz from Hollywood stars and cinema, jewels sort of took a turn to become bigger and flashier. Perfect to make a powerful statement with!
Edwardian Era
In contrast, the enticingly graceful and elegant Edwardian era, spanning the reign of King Edward VII from 1901 to 1910, takes us back to a very feminine, soft universe. Pieces from this time used filigree techniques for a lacy look that is simply mesmerising.
Art Nouveau
While the soft and nearly mystical Art Nouveau era signalled a return to nature with organic lines emphasising craftsmanship and technique.
Regardless of which historical era appeals to you, there is almost certainly a vintage-inspired jewel to suit your preference! It may be a bold statement, but we strongly believe the Golden Age of Jewellery is in fact, now.
